Hi,

Very soon I will receive my temporary visa to Germany and moving to germany in October. It seems that after arriving to Germany I should go to Town Hall to update my VISA.

How long is this process?

Because I want to make a travel to India in December.


I appreciate your replies.

Your visa will be valid for the first 3 months. It will be extended for a longer period afterwards. So you can apply for an extension before you go to india and it will be done on the same day.

I would like to know,

If this extension can be made as soon as i registered at the town hall?

or

Should I have to wait untill the end of 3rd month before asking for an extension for longer period?

Normally you have to wait till the end of the period(1 or 2 weeks before it expires). But you can try your luck by asking earlier. But i dont think they will extend as soon as you register.

My ABH advised to go as early as possible. Because you are NOT being issued a visa for your spouse for 12 months "after" the threee months, but including them. So at the end you get another 9 months visa only! (12 monaten ab Einreise)
