Today I got my long looked-for NE in Cologne (Bezirk Nippes - Neusser strasse 450).
Some info about me :
- I come to Gemrany in 03.2001
- I have unlimited contract and I have been working uninterrupted since the begining
- In order to get my NE I had to pass an exam in german language.The Sprachtest was very easy and no problem for me
- I started my NE application on 20.03.2006 and get it today (almost 4 months idle time ;-) )

Could you pl. elaborate, what "Sprachtest" you took?

Because, I did not hear about such test, during NE.

The exam in german language (Sprachtest) was nothing else but a nice talk with a lady.
She whould just see if I can speak and understand "basic" german

e.g.

Where are you from?
What is your name?
Where are you living now?
How did you come here?
etc etc
I speak almost perfect german that's why it was quite easy for me and the "exam" took just 5 to 6 minutes :-)

Welcome to the club of NE. I also got my NE recently.

First of all, I would like extend my Thanks to the members of this site and their valueable inputs and advices. In my case it was very simple procedure.

- I submitted the application + needed documents.
- Waited about 8 weeks to finish the enquires from ABH.
- They sent me a letter to collect the NE
- I got NE, my wife got extention for 2 years, while my two kids got NE until their 16 years of age.
- I was not asked for any german test, but I beleive that I had always talked to the people in ABH on phone, fixed the appointment etc.. Even I spoke to the lady in ABH in german. I assume that it was obvious that I know basic german.
