Guten Tag,

I am Indian citizen and living in Germany since 11/2009. For first 36 months been in Expact visa and not paid my social security (or Renten Versiescharung). I have EU Blue card from 11/2012 and currently holds Niederlansungserlaubnis (NE).
(Q) Am I eligible to apply German citizenship? If so, which year will apply.
(Q) The expact duration (from 11/2009 to 10/2012) is legal stay to consider for Citizenship?
(Q) Read in internet that 8 years eligibility to apply. The 8 years duration is after NE or total continuous stay in Germany. In my case, been in Germany from 11/2009.

Thanks for your answer in advance.

Hallo Venkat,

pl. type in search german citizenship. you have enough information on trust7 and answers to your queries. It always depends on the region where you are and how the officers will react to your query. you may always go there (einbürgerungsbüro) for checking your eligibility to apply for GC.

A1. usually, 8 years if you complete residing and have B1, i think it is straigtforward.

A2. it depends on the officer how they consider your stay (half time of visa or full time)

A3. or else in 7 years if they have to accept then they will inform what you should have: like may be B2, C1, integration course, etc

you will get a clear picture when you personally visit them.

good luck

Hallo Venkat,

Basbrem already replied your question very well .. But still just to add.. I would recommend you to visit Einbürgurungsamt in your city to get exact information about your case.. rules changes a lot in various cities and even as Basbrem said rightly also depend on the officer! Good Luck !
