Do Someone Needs to Return a German Driving Licence after Leaving Germany?

Hello All!

I have a Deutsche Führerschein (German Driving License - Class emoticon since one year. I left Germany recently, should I need to return my driving licence to Führersheinstelle or can I keep it to me?
Would this be valid for my possible entry to Germany in near future?  

I am looking forward to your reply.

Germans give a lot of emphasis on recycling. Your Driver's license could end up becoming someone's flower pot. Just keep it with you for nostalgic reasons.

It will be valid if you come back to Germany. Doesn't matter if it is for work or holidays.
