Just stay cool, be nice, smile and present your self at best light.
Remember, your are selling your self, you nolidgmente, your qualification your experience and you have to be the perfect man for the job.
As best you present sour self, so you get the job.
Each company need the best one. Explore the company a bit before, get noldigment who they are, what they are doing, show interest, ask questions and show that you are having concentration and you put your self in company service.
Be you - like: you do not have problems, you are devoted to work, you have best nolidgment, you are best for the place and you know best, you are friend, you are person that each can come to you, but you want also to learn more, give more and exchange your nolidgmente with other colleagues and workers in the company. You work as the boss tells you and always first ask, negotiate, give your opinion and then make decision what is best on.
What the writer wants to say - be idiot and full, and play monkey for those who need to give you crackers to eat.
You will successes - believe me, and it is not problem to have the job but how to keep it. There you have to manage only yourselves.
This is my opinion and help to you.
Best wishes!

Answer

1. if you had no phone interview, being called in a company for interview after sending your CV means that they have seen your profile and want 2 things:
a. to be sure that you have the skills you pretend to have
b. to be sure you can fit in the team/company

2. if you had a phone interview and you are called for a second interview, that means that they find your skills already ok but now want to see if you can fit in the team/company, that's what it is all about.

So an advice: you will never have a second chance to make a first impression.

I had along time ago a document on questions a person in an interview can ask to the company to show that one has interests in working for the company, I will have to search it but I found it at that time on the TechRepublic.com website, I don't know if they still have it.

Post your email address so that I could send it to you if I find it.

Hey D, what means:
1. Interview with agent that represent the company - personally.
2. Interview over phone with company - personally.
3. Personal interview in company 1-st date - cancelled from me!
4. Company ask immediate second interview...
They want me so bad?

Answer
6/30/06 4:06 PM as a reply to Karim Lawani.
I don't think they want you *that* bad:

1. Interview with agent that represent the company - personally., I don't think agent personally represents the company, they work for themselves but tell you that it is for the company because they will in fact recommand you to the company. What they do is
a. they get the request from the company
b. they search the database and check for potential candidates
c. they contact the potential candidates and do an interview just to check if the candidates really fit in the job description
d1. if not, the candidate is forgotten
d2. if yes, the candidate is recommanded to the company
e. the company takes it from there and if the candidate is hired, the agent get money from the company for "recommanding" the candidate, I know that because I got money more than once from agents to which I recommanded people :-) I was kinda agent for the agents and I still do it, it brings me 500 euros per placed candidate so I think the agent got really more.

2. Interview over phone with company - personally., that's where my point e. starts and you then follow the normal process.

@nobody

I have different opinion about your statements

1. if you had no phone interview, being called in a company for interview after sending your CV means that they have seen your profile and want 2 things:
a. to be sure that you have the skills you pretend to have
b. to be sure you can fit in the team/company

If you are called directly means, implicitly they are interested in your skills and want to know whether you really possess those skills you specified in your resume

2. if you had a phone interview and you are called for a second interview, that means that they find your skills already ok but now want to see if you can fit in the team/company, that's what it is all about.

First phone interview means they did not completely understand what was written in your resume so it is the clarification phase. If you succeed then you go for personal interview.

Note this might also affect due to the hectic schedule the manager's have, the place you live etc etc..

For a face to face interview you need to prepare well in advance the things you have listed in you resume so it is more or like a elaborated phase8bit detailed). In Germany dress code is not important unless you are working for sales department. If possible, carry a few power point slides with you and make introduce yourself briefly.

many many more you have to take care and I think some of them are already being listed here by other members.

good luck!

@babloo

I'm talking about my personal experience, not on having made interviews (although I did a lot of them) but because have been on the other side of the table more than once (I conducted personnally all the interviews of the company I build back in 2003 in the UK) so I really know what I'm talking about.

If you want to be sure of that, go to your actual company and ask those who conducted your interview what they were looking for by conducting the face to face interview you had (if you had a phone interview before that) and you'll see.

blueshari asks:

This is totally dependent upon the load of the HR people/headhunter company.

I had 2 phone interviews. Both interviews were together with HR of the company (some companies do it thru headhunter company).

First phone interview was 1,5 months later, after I had applied for the position. The interviewer was just one HR person.

Second phone interview was ca. 1 months later, after the first phone interview. The interviewers were one HR person and 2 people from the department where the position was.

After the 2nd phone interview, they invited me to Germany for personal interview. It lasted ca. 1 month for the company to decide for the personal interview.

After the personal interview, 1 month later I was rejected.

After the rejection, 1 month later again, I was offered the position again.

Please note that this is a little an exceptional case, but the intervals are like that.

After the phone interview, you are invited to Germany for personal interview. After the personal interview in general they should say you YES/NO in 4-6 weeks.

the response.

Yes. It took totally 10 months for me to get the position I am working now. From the time point when I applied for the position till the time point when I started to work!

Actually there are a lot stuff more I did not mention. Personal interview was problematic (visa formalities and rescheduled because of some boundary conditions). After everything finished, the GC process was problematic (they did not know how to apply for it).

In general, the bigger the employer is, the more complicated is the process (more human interference) and hence the more patient you have to be.

Don't expect the people to whom you are talking to are experienced. HR people can be underqualified, less experienced, or do not might have dealt with formalities for foreigns qualified like you.

I am giving you an idea what you can meet. Be prepared to experience corner cases (they might forget some things, they might register some things wrong etc). Always be paranoid. Nobody is perfect!

Very good. The technical department has the last word. If you convinced them, everything else is just a toy (up to the work permit).

I wish you good luck and patience! Germans are patient people, and so do you have to behave, too.

I suggest you to be patient. They will contact you if they want to see you.
In my case,I have had the phone interview with the CTO of the company.I was answering technical questions on phone. After 1 month, they sent me an invitation for the personal interview which I will do during next week.
Don´t forget that you are not the only one they are calling. They use to call many people for phone interview. Therefore,be patient.

Good Luck for the next week and hope you would keep us posted with the result and questions. By the way, if you have some interview preparation stuff, do pass it to:

blueshari@30gigs.com

My suggestion for your earlier question would be to stick to what you have said in phone interview with confidence. Prepare and practice well again for the
beautiful question "Tell me about yourself". Secondly prepare well your project experiences, role and contributions.
Finally be prepared to negotiate salary accordingly.

@jordan

it's not legal, it's the will of the company so you have to ask them before hands if they will cover them or not. If yes, fine; if no, in case you are registered as jobseeker, the Arbeitsamt will cover these expenses, in case you are not, you can declare these expenses in your next tax declaration.

Answer
7/11/06 8:59 PM as a reply to Karim Lawani.
It's compulsory for a company to pay the travel cost for an interview. If the employer does not want to repay the travel cost, he must explicitely state that in the interview letter (E-mail/letter).

Once, a friend of mine went to an interview. The company did not say anything about repay of the travel cost. The next day of the interview, my friend asked the company to pay for the cost. The company replied that as it is a small company, it can not repay the travel cost. Then I asked my friend to serach SGB for the real law. He found that "A COMPANY MUST PAY INTERVIEW COST IF NOT OTHERWISE STATED".[I don't have a specific link at my hand]. With this law, he approached the company to pay his money back. Then the company has said sorry for declining his previous request and repaid the money.

So if the company does not say anything about the travel cost, one needs not ask for it beforehand. In Germany, generally the companies do not make troubles for repaying interview travel cost.

I think you can have a look at our favourite GOOGLE for the appropriate law on this!

Does this link say enough for this issue:
