My mother-in-law wanted to visit us here in Germany for 2 months. Her visa was rejected by the consulate in India saying her family roots in India could not be proved in India and therefore they were not convinced that she will return. We had provided all documents as per the checklist together with confirmed return air ticket. She has two sons who are settled in India. Does anyone who faced the situation know which document to be provided with the re-application? Did not get much info from consulate

apply for a remonstration, as to why the visa was rejected.

If she owns property or gets pension, she needs to attach those. Also some kind of supporting letter from her sons.

It may or may not take time. Bangalore consulate is fsdte. The upper limit is 3 months. Remonstration is as good as re applying with additional facts.

Forget about filing an appeal, if you are short of time. It's supposed to take weeks together. That was an advise by a consular officer there, in a similar situation.

Just get the documents in place this time around (details of other siblings, property, assets etc) and also do check if the interview can be done in the local language, so that your MIL can respond more comfortably (in case English might have been a stumbling block).

You'll probably need to work with your MIL and get a proper response together about family ties. If her son/s are studying or if they are older and have kids, all of that contributes towards strength of family ties.
