Hallo

I got married in May 2010. My wife has applied for the Family reunion visa in September 2010. If she comes here in second week of December can I change my tax card from 1 to 3.

If yes, can I file tax returns in 2011 for the entire year 2010 with tax card 3 ?

Tax card 3 will be considered from the date when u r wife came to Germany, not for full 2010.

This is with my experience as my wife came here in June 2009. FZ considered from June 2009 only but not for full 2009.

I got married in March and my wife Joined me during the last weekd of November so I was not able to change to Tax Card as It should happend a bit earlier to change tax card.

But next year I applied for tax return and I got all tax paid back as per tax card 3. In simple words, in my case , the whole year was counted on tax 3.

You can get back your money for full year. In my case my wife came to Germany in December last week and i get the money back for whole year.

You will get tax returns for entire year, if your wife gets angemeldet in Rathaus in december.

If you still have any doubt ask any tax consultant.

if you are from non EU, i hope if u apply family reunion visa on septemeber-mid week , it takes 5-6 months the whole process.. if you have marriage certificate verification it takes atleast 2-3 month.
