Roughly, if you don't want a calculator or go to a website for that, know that a class 1 will receive around 60% net and the class 2 (that will be at least one kid) around 61%, not much different than a class 1. In case you are a class 3 (married), then you are around 67%. These numbers have never changed AFAIK, or at least since I'm in Germany. Try on that site and you'll see I'm right :-)

Hi,
Thanks for giving information.

Can you tell the type of class belongs for both below cases?

case1: he is married but his wife, kid, parents are in india only)?
case2: his wife is in USA for another job but his kid and his parents are in inida ?

Also some news is there like if spouse and ,kid, parents are in india. then there is a possibility to show transfer of money to india which shows taking care . then tax payment in germany is also less. can any one tell some more details on this. what is the approach in germany to apply like this?

Thanks and Regards
Hari

As long as wife and kids are not on the German soil, he will be considered class 1. You can declare money send oversea only if it is send to a direct lined parent, that will be parents or grand-parents, children or grand-children or in case it is another person, it should be someone you have been legally declared to be taken care of (say for example a niece that you have kinda adopted). You will also have to have a document from the country or city where other part lives, to show that they need to be taken care of, this refering only to ascendants (parents, etc), not descendants.
