Re: Formalities after death of a foreigner living in Germany

After reading the news "UK Hindus lose court battle to have open cremation" i would like to know
If a foreigner dies while he is staying in Germany then what would happen, does the government send his body back to his home country or its the company with which he/she works responsible or the university where he/she studies or if he/she has some friends here they should take care of it.Or one should already make some Insurance so everything is taken care.
Sorry to ask such a question but we all live away from our family and relatives and sometime we need to think about this.

The cost has to be paid for by the family or friends. But the company, embassy, university will help you in completing the formalities.

It is good to have a lebenversicherung(life insurance) in germany so that the families/friends don't have to do the hard work of money management.
