Es hat sich wirklich nichts geändert: haben wir vorher nicht gewusst, ob wir bleiben können, werden wir das auch bis zum letzten tag nicht wissen.

I really never understood what they really meant by this sentence ".. die Laufzeit dieser Greencard ... erst mal fünf Jahre beträgt, aber nicht auf diese fünf Jahre beschränkt ist", "amounting to 5 years but not limited to 5 years", can some1 really explain this to me, because their word-playing is somehow misleading for me.

I think it means that GC itself cannot be extended for more then 5 years. But after 5 years people can apply for another type of residence permission.

Exactly. GC program is temporary program and it will be closed. GC can't be extended. But GC holder can apply for normal work permit after 60 months of work (condition is salary min. 84000 EUR).

You can't get normal WP without PR. Or you can?
