I am GC. I would like to know the folowing regarding the Work Permit in England,
If we find a job in England, Is it easy to get a Visa and Work Permit?
What about the Job market in England?

Hi Magi,

if you find a Job your employer will apply for the work permit, takes about 2-3 weeks, then you go to the consulate in Düsseldorf and get an entry clearance. You have to register with the police in the first week after arriving.

It`s easier to loose your job in the UK (compared to germany, )but it's easier to get a new one on average (but they are having a huge debate on reforming the system to make it harder to immigrate there). I think you'll probably make more money on the UK netto (probably twice as much), but unfortunately it's also twice as expensive (specially London if you have a family)

Pay attention to one little detail - validity of your AE here in Germany. Of course, you'll have to attend interviews in UK and most probably you'll need entry visa from British Consulate in Dusseldorf. BUT, they issue visas with minimum duration of 6 months - and therefore require that your current German residency permit is valid for _at_least_ next 6 months. And AB won't extend it for you unless you're pushing the last month.

Is it true that the "Working Holiday Maker" Visa has been reduced to 1 year, and that all applications asking for more than 1 year are rejected by the Consulate in Düsseldorf?

Hi Fred,
The new rules says that You get 2 years visa for WHM but the change is that earlier you had a choice to get 2 years work permit but now you get only 1 year workpermit and you have to make holiday for the other year.
"If u ask for 2 years they would reject" is false information .

Me, a Ex GC and migrated to UK under HSMP. It is good programme for skilled people. No hassel about work permit and it is not bounded by the employer. Job opportunities are good in the UK compare to Germany and integration is much easier than Germany... No more you will be so called Auslander here:-) . IN GERMANY EVEN YOUR GRANDSON WILL BE A AUSLANDER TOO....
