Dear friends,

I tried searching for this answer everywhere but invain. Actually my wife was hired for 2.5 months in year 2003 as a praktikantin (trainee) and then again for 5 months in year 2004, as a praktikantin. In both cases she was working full time and she also paid arbeitslos money from her salary.

I would like to know 3 things:

1) Can she apply for arbeitslosengeld if she has not worked continuously for 1 year?

2) Can she get arbeitslosengeld if she work for 2 months and then 5 months and then again 5 months in a break and complete 1 year of job although its not continuous 1 year?

3) Can she get arbeitslosengeld if she is not fired but she just finishes her contract, but after the contract she has no job?

It would be really nice to get the reply as I am searching for it for a long time now. Thanks in anticipation.

1) yes. it has to be min. 1 year alltogether in last 3 years.
it does not has to be continuos.
2) yes. if it is 12 months or more, then it is OK
3) yes

I think the awnser for point 3 is NO(Depends on arbietsamt and place), if the contract is made only for six months and it is not extended then the job ends automatically, so in this case i have heard many people complaining they were not given arbeitslos geld. So please check with your local emplyoment office, i mean give it a try atleast. Dont ask them Will i get ??

sure.
you do not get ALG only if you quit selbst,
or if you get kicked because you are inadequate,
meaning you work bad or behave bad.

off course for 3 is also wichtig that you worked 1 year in last 3 years.
that is why someone don't get ALG after 6 months
