Hi,

I and my wife are Indian nationals and my son is born in Berlin. Indian Embassy in Berlin is asking for "No objection certificate" (Negativbescheinigung) from German authorities saying my son has not applied/holding German citizenship. I had been to Standesamt which issued birth certificate, Burgeramt where German passport is applied for new born babies and my district office (Bezirksamt in Rathaus Reinickendorf).

But I could not get a procedure to apply Negativbescheinigung for German citizenship.

Please let me know the procedure get NOC from German authorities.
   - Which is correct department taking care of this?
   - Which office do I need to go?
   - How long does it take?

I applied within a month of my daughter’s birth date. I did not get any NOC from Rathaus or Stadtamt, however signed a declaration along with my wife stating that we did not apply for any PP or any other document for that matter from German authorities. Indian consulate in Munich have accepted this and issued PP in a week.

It seems Munich consulate does not emphasis on NOC but Berlin consulate does. I had been checking with my friends and got this answer.

The right place to apply for Negativbescheinigung is the district office (Bezirksamt). I have contacted them.

I will update the post once I get it.
