I have read most of the topics in the archives related to this query. Still I have few questions.

I am working in Germany since 2005 and I am living here with my family. I have Niederlassungserlaubnis since June 2010. And today I got Kündigung from my company, which states that I am jobless from December 2010 onwards.

As I gather, I have to inform Arbeitsamt as soon as possible. I just want to clear following doubts:

1. Will my Visa status change, when I show this Kündigung letter to Arbeitsamt?

2. Will my wife's dependent visa be affected by this?

3. Do I need to inform my Health Insurance company as well?

4. Are there any other things to be done other than informing Arbeitsamt about this kündigung?

Any suggestions and advices will be highly appreciated.

Hi Harsh,

1. Your NE will not change because it is independent of the employer.

2. Your wife's visa will also not be affected.

3. Yes, you need to inform your health insurance company regarding this.

4. You have to inform Arbeitsamt withing 3 days of receing the kuendigung.

These are very basis informations I have, please see other views also on this.

It is good that you have NE, so I think no problem for you and family. But try not be tricked by employer. Have you challenge kundigung? Ask employer if you eligible for abfindung. This has been issue here many time. I found this thread

First of all, you should think of challenging the decision if you have not done a 'settlement' with them and there is not strong reason to fire you.

You need to contact a decent lawyer and you can get some months salary out. Usually you can get some 1.5-2.5 months for each year of service even in case of serious issues ;)
