What is the procedure to terminate the contract with the private health insurance (a German company)? Any short cuts would be appreciated.

The agent says, this is possible only when I leave this country! Does it mean, we are bound to a simple insurance company till our stay?

Hello GC_05,

As far as I know, you may leave the private insurance based on 3 condition:
1. you leave germany
2. after 1 year, the insurance reise the premi and
you don't agree with that
3. if you loose your job, in this case you fall
automatically to public insurance. In GC case
is very interesting because in the visum said
we can stay as long as we work.

I am planning to change to private, can you tell me why do you want to stop? and which one do you use?
