I am a PhD student at a university. For the last three years, I have been employed by the university as full time worker. I have paid all the taxes as everybody else. Now that the fund for project is over,I am arbeitslose but writing my PhD thesis. In the mean time I asked arbeitsagentur for arbeitlose geld, and they accepted my application. But Auslandsbehörde forbid that and they write on my pass a statement which says the visa expires with social benefits application. Is arbeitlose geld I an öffentliche Mitttel? If so, can I ask the arbeitsagentur to return what I have paid as arbeitlose insurance for last 3 years?

any ideas, Will a lawyer can help in such case?

does anyone know about this ? I was also afraid to register as Arbeitlos thinking about such consequences. I am Arbeitlos from December till February because AA needs time for giving work_permit for my new contract.
