OCI Card New Application

I'm in the process of applying for an OCI card for me and my family. I remember the hassle that I had when I applied for an Indian passport for my new born child. This time around I would be taking the services from ICGS in Köln. Does anyone have experience of using their consular services for applying and obtaining the OCI card but they charge a service fee of 65 Euros per person? or should I better apply on my own? What are the pitfalls that I should be wary of if I do the OCI application by myself?
