Legalizing marriage certificate in Germany

Toggle
Hello,

I am pregnant and expect to deliver my baby any time soon. I recently came to know that for the child's birth certificate, our regular Indian marriage certificate will not be sufficient. Either we should get our marriage certificate translated and legalized by some recognized authority here or get our spouse names endorsed on our passports.

Does anyone know who are the authorized/recognized people in Germany(in Mannheim preferably) who can do this for us? What could be the charges and how long does this process take?

Thanks.

Google is your friend. Search for Dolmetscher and Mannheim and you get a list.

You can translate your Marriage certificate and get it attested for max 100 euros. Takes 1 to 3 days depending on their workload.

@Raj: Thanks a lot for the link. I didn't know what to look for on Google. It's always a great friend though ;-)

Another doubt: these are only "interpretor" or translator services, will such companies also provide "legalization" of the certificate?

Check this link:

Regd. questions just contact your "Standesamt" - good idea would be to go there and simply ask for a list of documents needed! (-in written would be better!)

may be this link would be helpful too:-)

Normally they do the legalization as well. Just tell them that it is for the foreign office and they should be legalized by "staatliche annerkant" Dolmetcher.
