Visa Questions

Dependent Visa- New Marriage Registartion Act, 2009

Toggle
Hello Friends, I need your clarifications/suggestions desparetly. I like to apply for the "Family Reunion visa for Spouse". I got
married recently, last december. I am from Tamilnadu and currently here.

I like to have clarifications for the following:

1) When I register my marriage I got only one marriage certificate saying
"Marriage is registered under Tamilnadu Marriage Registartion Act, 2009"(its a
special act formed last Nov). Is this enough? or else I have to get the marriage
registation certificate registered under "Hindu Marriage Act" ?

2) Should I do Official German translation for the same?

3) Should I get Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) attestation for my marriage
certificate?

Please clarify, this will be very helpful.

Thanks
JP

Hi JP,

From my point of view, if your marriage and certificate(Tamilnadu Marriage Registartion Act, 2009) is Legal which I'm sure is, then its enough.

You can submit the same when applying for dependent visa. And you will be asked for a translated version in German Foreign Office - So its better to get it officially translated and submit a copy of that too, to avoid delay.

Wish you good luck!

2) yes

3) no need. As consulate at chennai doesn't ask for that.

Thank you guys. Regarding the translation, should it be done from the official transltor? Because my friend said it needs to be done only from the translators in Germany. Is it true? Are there no official transloators in India? Because I have found some people (who are teaching staff in Goethe Institute, Chennai)who said they are official translators who can do this job. Please clarify.

pjptrust,

both should be ok as long as the translation is done on a verifiable letter head.

Just apply and get your spouse visa quickly, instead of wasting time and asking too many doubts and researchs.
