I am a Green Card Holder working in Germany from Feb 2002.I would like to know that if a GC does not fulfill the conditions for the new immigration law (egemoticoneutch is not Fluent) does he have to leave the country - or he can get a temporary extension after 5 years (assuming that he has a permanent working contract in Germany).
Hope I am clear.

Deutsch for those who came before 1.1. will not e the problem. They have to know deutsch only basicly.

What is the meaning of Basic ? The auslanderbehörde told me last Thursday that fluency in deutch is an absolute prerequisite for any form of extension after 5 years.
