I'm not that specialist but it depends if you're going to live in the old east or in the west of Berlin.

You should check on immobilienscout24.de, that's how I found my appartment, in the old east and it costs me 661,22 euros for a 4,5 ZKB.

you can get a nice 2 room flat for about 400,- €. Flats are relatively cheap and easy to get in Berlin. Do not forget... Berlin is really big, so pay attention, that you can reach your company easily from your new home.

Detlef is right, if you find an appartment, I mean, a proposal of appartment, first check how far it is from your office, I once had a good proposal, very good place but it was nearly one hour far from my workplace, even though in Berlin :-) so I managed to get one 20 minutes from my workplace and that's where I live now.

You can check the time you need by using the Deutsche Bahn website, that's how I usually do.
