Hello everyone,

I want to check the process of Blue card employer change in Berlin. I wanted to know normally how much time it will take for this change and how to get the appointment with ausländerbehörde. Please share if anybody has the experience of changing the employer details in Blue card(in Berlin).

Hi,

the employer change is done in some minutes, if you have all required docs (new contract). It depends how long you already worked under Blue Card system. If it is more than 2 years you do not have to change the employer any more, as long as the new conditions fulfill the Blue Card law.

Any change of job during the first two years of employment requires the approval of the immigration authority (section 19a subs. 4 of the German Residence Act). Approval is subject to the same preconditions as initial issuance. If the minimum gross salary threshold has been raised during the intervening period, compliance with the new threshold must be proven. Holders of an EU Blue Card are obliged to inform the competent immigration authority if the employment for which the EUBlue Card was issued is terminated prematurely
