Not Darmstadt but still Hessen.

The forms came automatically - exactly 2 months before the expiry of my Aufenthalterlaubnis. I would be patient but give them a call if you see nothing by then.

The more important matter is the length of time it takes for the security check ( apparently 2 security checks within Hessen ). This took exactly 4 months from the date of my interview at the Auslanderamt.
