Hello to all,

iam planning to change Surname of my wife in her passport in Munich Indian Embassy (at the same time iam applying for new passport(renual)).

is there anybody in this forum having experience in the following:

1. for future purposes(for Kid name) chaging her surname is suggestable ?

2. will Indian Embassy issue a new passport for her? or will they change only surname in her passport(in he 1st page) without changing anything?

3. will they return passport immediately or they send later?

i called many times to Indian Embassy in Munich, but nobody is responding.

pls post u r experince for the surname change and for the renual of passport.

Hi,

1. It would be better to have the same surname for you and your wife. Your kid would then get this surname

2. They won't issue a new passport. Instead the change of name would be noted on a separate page on the same passport.

3. Normally it won't be returned immediately. It may take some time.

I am not sure how current faisel's info is. But when my wife applied last year oct in Frankfurt she got all new passport with new surname.

It will take around 2 weeks, since they have to get it from Delhi.

I applied for the change of name in wife's passport a month back. They did not issue a new passport. Instead they made a declaration on the 3rd page about the change of name.
