I got work permit for germany through my company for one year. I want to know if my spouse can also work on dependent visa. He has a Bachelor of Engineering degree and a work exp of 9 years.

I read an article which stated that after some modification in the law in september 2013, dependents of work permit holders can work in Germany, please confirm. Also, Is there a requirement of German Language proficiency.

In case he is not allowed to work this way, how long does it take to get him the work permit. and what is the probability that he can get a job and work permit.

Your spouse will be able to work. If you are a blue card holder he will have work authorization right away.

But my work permit is the standard one not blue card. will he still be able to work?

It would be good if you ask Foreign office. They will confirm legally.

Yes. I'm in a similar situation and have confirmed with the Aliens Office.

what did they tell you ?

That my spouse will be able to work once she is in the country and finds a job.

The main difference between work eligibility for spouse in case of normal permit and blue card is that spouse has to find job first and then gets a work permit whereas spouses of blue card holders have Work permit even if no job.

yeah u r rite..got it confirmed from some other sources also....but I am not sure if companies will bother to arrange work permits for such employees if they get those who already have one..what say???

 Your spouse  can work in dependant visa , challenges are..
  1 . Visa validity is aligned to yours. So just for a year.
  2.  Finding job without german proficiency is big challenge
