Before I continue - special mention to 10dulkar for answering a lot of my other queries. I had some specific questions about the spouse work permit:

1. I don't have a blue card - this means my wife won't have work authorization by default.
2. Would it be mandatory for her to undergo German classes in her first year in order to even apply for jobs?
3. If she does get a job offer - can this be presented to the ABH to get the visa changed to a work permit without German language skills?
4. Does she need to wait for 6 months after I've received my work permit to apply for a spouse visa?

I think learning German and having work authorization is completely independent. Foreighn immigrants can get work authorization without even having any prior German knowledge, z.B. Spuse of Blue Card Holders. I guess in your case if she can get a Job then its her prospective employer headache to get her work-permit and if her job demands certain level of German knowledge then she has to learn German. AFAIK, I don't come across any such thing where spouses of normal residence permit holders are not alowed to work at all. Regarding your point 4) I think no, you can apply it starightaway
