Please can I say this forum is amazing. I dont think i could have expected anything more relevant.

I am an Indian national married to a german for 7 yrs i had a WP through my company in march 2001 for germany and then switched to an auftenhalterlaubnis from dec 2001 valid for 3 yrs . In 2004 Oct I got a new project in the uk and went there and was abroad when the permit expired. i now have a new project back in Germany and have asked them for a new residents permit. the german embassy gave me a visa in london so i could enter germany and apply for my residency permit.

I have always been employed and earn more than the 93K limit. I have also been earning more than this limit for the past 4 yrs and have never been on benefit. The wife and i maintain and continue to mantain a home in Berlin.

My question is now when I apply can i apply for a niederlassungserlaubnis on the basis that i have a job paying more than the 94k. I am a specialist in my field (It is IT though) but have a letter from the company about this. I work for one of the largest IT international companies and am lucky to be part of sr management so should be able to get any letter i need from them

What do you think , can i apply for a niederlassungserlaubnis ?. what documents should i take to the auslanderamt ?.

I was also told that it is permitted to get a german passport after 3 years of being resident in germany provided you are married to a german national.

Is that true ??. Do you know what the procedure is and how long it will take ?.

Will the lawyers recommended do a phone meeting ?. I am in the uk at the moment returning soon to berlin. Happy to still pay them of course.

do not bother to aply for NE. take rather a citizenship at once. You fullfil conditions for both more than once.

Thanks for the tip DVD, do you know what the process is for the citizenship ?. i know i am eligible but cant seem to find any information on how to get the citizenship. someone told me it takes two years to get the passport ? any ideas ?? has anyone done this ? do the lawyers on this site help with passports ?
