I am living in Frankfurt and want to apply for NE for highly qualified person. However, I just came across requirements from Hessen that the required minimum salary must be "Doppelten der Beitragsbemessungsgrenze der gesetzlichen Krankenversicherung erhalten". This means 132K???

Is this a mistpying? Has anybody had any experience in applying for NE for higly skilled person in Frankfurt recently? How much salary is required?

From there the Beitragbemessungsgrenze der KV is 44500 for 2011, doubled that gives 89000. Looks a bit strange to me since the common figure for §19 NE is 66K. If memory serves me right, earlier the income requirement for NE §19 was based on this parameter (Doppelt Beitragsbemessungsgrenze), and was reduced later to 66K. Have no idea whether a certain Bundesland can change this requirement. Hope somebody who applied for NE based on §19 in Hessen can help you.

I also have a similar qusetion so posting it under this thread:
I and my husband both have been living here since 4 years for our PhD's. We both were having stipendium, plus since Nov. 2009, my husband has also been doing a scientific job and been paying taxes. He worked and studied at Max-Planck Institute. Now, he has got a post doc position at Max-Planck, but will defend his Phd thesis in July. And I may finish my PhD next year. We both have done B-1 level of German course. My question being can we apply for a life-time visa on highly qualified basis(I am not sure how they call it)? I am not asking about the citizenship, but German life-time visa.
