I am an Indian living here since last 7 years and thinking about applying for the citizenship.

As Germany does not allow dual citizenship, are there any disadvantages in giving up Indian citizenship.

For e.g.
Property in India.
Investment in India.
Trip to India.
Decision to return permanently to India in future.
Something else.

Looking forward to read your opinion.

As far as I have researched, I didn't see any significant disadvantage of giving up Indian Pass.
The only answer that I am looking for is : what happens to the tax payments after you start earning in India,,,do you still have to pay taxes here in germany or only in india...what happens if one looses job there...do you get then Arbeitslosen Geld?

If you take German citizenship,you will loosw your rente contribution which you may claim once you get back to india.

For 7 years this can amount to 35000Euros.

And for 10 years it can amount to 50000Euros.

so think before you do something stupid.

After you have paid 60 months of installments you don't see a penny until you are 67 years old.

Your best bet is to leave Germany after 59 months of paying the installments so that you would get your contribution back. Once you have paid 60 months of installments then it doesn't matter if you are a german citizen or not.

@Akshay! Are you sure about it. Infact I have heard contradicting statements about 60 months.
Some say, that if you don't become german, you can always claim back while some say like what you have written.
Do you know of some official link on it?

What happens with the property rights in India after getting DE pass!
I heard that agricultural land , you can always inherit, but are not allowed to buy then.
Any light on it!

You can't buy agricultural land in India unless you are a farmer. Remember big B !!

Will we suffer from some partialities/different behaviour?

You need to apply for PIO/OCI status at the indian embassy. With PIO/OCI you can work and live in India as long as you want.

Yes, the "locals" would treat you like an outcasted and keep reminding you that you don't belong there anymore. For them, you are an export-reject and a loser who is not accepted in abroad and has to come back to India.

Getting the rente contribution back.

i have checked woith BFA, for indians 60 months limit does not apply and we can get our contribution back after leaving Germany.Please check your information.

Did you get the reply in written or just verbal assurance? B'cos verbal stuff will not hold any value after few months/years. Try to get it as a written proof(if you don't have one) and then use it later as a proof in case of any legal hindrances.
And don't forget to share the written assurance with the Trust7 community ;)
