Scanned Signature for Apartment Contract - Urgent Help required

Hi All,
I need some legal advice.

Here is my situation:
1) My brother (student) rented an apartment and the landlord wanted me to sign a separate contract taking all the formal responsibility (for security).

2) I signed it and sent a scanned copy to my brother

3) My brother handed it over to the landlord. In the meantime I requested the landlord (by email) to modify my contract wording. But he did not respond.

4) The landlord is now insisting to send the original signed copy by post.

Now recently I noticed several things that are not very favourable (were hidden). eg. the contract is for minimum 2 years. Thats why now I am a bit worried to sign and send the original copy. But the landlord is threatening me that he could legally force me to send the original contract.

Can someone help me with some legal advice if I have any options here?
- Is he right that I already have a binding contract (with the scanned copy)?
