Once your spouse arrives in Germany after getting family reunion visa, what steps are required by German government for hassel free living?

e.g Registration at Rathhaus , changin tax class etc etc

As soon as your spouse arrives in Germany, first thing to be done is to go to the ABH (aliens office) and get your spouse registered. Once the ABH registers him/her, they will send the same to the Rathaus and the registration process shall be complete. You may require your translated marriage certificate at the time of registration. The registration must be done within 10 days of arrival. At the time of registration, the ABH will give your spouse an appointment for visa extension.

On the day of appointment of visa extension, ABH shall require BIO photos of the spouse and passport copies of both, registration paper.They shall take the fingerprints of your spouse and give another appointment for collection of visa. This appointment that they shall give would be mostly after 1 month. (Depending on the appointment availability)

On the day of collection of visa, they shall give the spouse the extended visa and the integration course paper. 

After the spouse gets the Visa, the next step would be to register for an integration course and also get the tax class changed at the Finanzamt and also at work place. 

Simultaneously, you should call up your Health insurance company and apply for a card for the spouse.

The other insurance company (for other things) may also be contacted and the insurance contract may be altered accordingly.

If the spouse has not changed name after marriage, do not forget to add the spouses' name (Last Name) on the Name plate of your post box. This is because the post goes back if they do not see the spouses' name.

Visa Process may differ from case to case and city to city, but most of the times the standard proceedure is same.

You dont have to wait till you get the Spouse Visa extension. I did it before that. But you need to get Personal ID number for your Spouse and then fill the form and submit to the Finanzamt. They will change the Tax Class from 1 to 3 and also mention how many kids you have in the sheet. 

Submit that sheet to your office finance department.

@mani954348 Which Personal ID number? Are you talking about social versicherung number?

Which proof Finanzamt needs to change your Tax class? Do one get some special document from ABH or Standesamt /Bürgeramt about change in marital status?
