Advantages of German Citizenship

Hi Everybody,
I got through the H1B lottery this year and planning to leave Germany by the end of this year. I have completed 7 years in Germany and done my Integration course too.
So now before leaving I am think of German Citizenship and if it can bring any advantages in my life.

I can think of the following advantages of German Citizenship:
1. May be the processing times of US Greencard will be short. Does any of you have information about this?
2. EU wide workpermit

Disadvantages:
1. Foreigner in your own country as Germany does not allow dual Citizenship.
2. The Rente what we payed is not returned
As I stay here for 7 years, not sure if I get it back even if I do not take German Citizenship.
Does any body have information on this?

Please advice emoticon

Greetings,
Praveen

Hi,

US visa lottery does not guarantee a success in US and may be later you change your mind. If you can get the german citizenship I recommend getting it first before leaving Germany. Secondly it opens doors for you to work freely in other EU countries.

Hi,
Thanks for your answers.

@Praveen - I am from AndhraPradesh and live in Mainz. You can mail me at p_gudapatiATyahooDOTcoDOTuk

@M.K - Yes, US H1B is not at all a guarantee for success. But in future I am not planning to stay in any non English speaking countries, as this will hurt my children's education.
So in Europe I have no big choice except UK/Ireland.
So thinking if there are any other benefits of taking German Citizenship.

Praveen

I see it cempletely opposite.
They will learn more in Germany because they will learn english PLUS GERMAN.
Dazu they will have Uni for free.

But it is true that in german schools kid can end in deep shit if he does not mannage to get good school.

This statement is also very true regarding american high schools - I lived in USA for long and speak from personal experience and experience of my close friends.

Hi,
Thanks for the answers.
Germany has only free schooling and the Universities have already introduced fees in most of the states.
So our children will not enjoy the free Uni's any more.

Could you compare German Schools with US Schools.
As I will be moving to US could you guide/advice about the pitfalls in US Schooling and how to choose a good school.

5 000€ for Uni in Germany and 100 000€ in US is not really the same thing.

schools?
I am not an expert but I think that state US schools are much worse than german.
on the other side expensive US schools are not much better than good german schools (which are for free)
