My friend has been working in Germany for less than 2 years.  She has a work permit linked to her employer.  She recently renewed her residence permit so it is valid for about another 2 years.

She is thinking of quitting her current job and finding another one (with a new work permit) in Germany.  However, if she quits her current job which requires 3 months' notice, will she need to leave Germany soon after her last day of employment (i.e. 3 months after resigining) ?

Or can she continue to stay in Germany until the expiry of the residence permit ?  She would of course hope to find another job well before then.

She and I have had tried to Google about this question but the answers seem mixed.  Some say that in such circumstances, she must leave Germany immediately once her current job terminates and others say that she can stay around.
