Hello Everyone,

I have been issued a Blue Card from Feb 2013 and I have been working since Jan 2013.
The company had let me go from July 2013 after my Probation
My wife is here since a couple of weeks on a dependent VISA.

I would like to know what would be my VISA status at the end of July.
Could i stay in Germany for 3 months or so after July?
Could i change it to Job search VISA or something so that i can look for a new job?
What would happen to my Wife's VISA in these cases?

It would be really helpful if someone could brief on this.

You are required to inform the Ausländerbehörde that your contract has been terminated. You should receive permission to stay for three months to look for a new job. You are not eligible for unemployment insurance (unless you've previously worked in the EU) and you'll need to arrange for your own health insurance.

Your wife's permit is tied to yours. As soon as your permit is revoked, your wife's permit becomes void.

Did you changed your wife's visa to long term Visa? If not than I suggest the following;

1- change your Wife's visa to long term German Visa
2- I presume, that you have visa for 1 year or so?
2- keep quite and keep looking for a job
4- In case, your company informs ABH than they will send you a letter to vist them and change your visa.

Thanks a lot for your reply. Last week i went directly to ABH and they asked me to come end of this month. The lady was kind enough to give me 3 months time to search for a new job but my Blue Card has to be surrendered. My wife extended her temporary VISA already and the same case applies for her too..

Thanks for your kind replies. The info were useful however I am still in the negotiation stage with the university for ending the contract, I have 2 options:
-One side: university termination
-Two sides: agreement cancellation "Auflösungsvertrag".
Which one I should take that would allow me for searching for another job?

For the record, all foreigners with work permits tied to their employers are required to inform their local ABH if their contract is terminated (see § 82 Absatz 6 AufenthG for more info).
