Time needed to process student visa to complete one year German course

Dear all,

My partner (Ecuadorian) and I (German) currently live in the UK. However my partners visa is going to run out on the 18th of September and we have decided to go to Germany for a year so that we can be with my family and he can fulfill his dream and learn German.
We have finally got all the documentation in place, have paid the language course and set up a 'Sperrkonto' as required.
However, when we checked the Embassy in order to make a visa appointment the earliest available is mid-August. Do we have a chance to complete the application process in time before my partners UK visa runs out on the 18th of September? Is there a way to get an emergency appointment at the embassy?

I am grateful for any help.
