Umzug Germany to UK??

Dear Fellows,

after spending some wonderful years in germany, i am looking forward to move to London in a couple of months. Regarding that i have a few questions and will highly appreciate any tips or shared expetriences:

1) In my Mietvertrag (rent contract) a 3 month notice period is mentioned. Is there anyway i can leave my appartment before that OR will i have to pay the 3 months rent wether or not i live there?

2) If any of you has gone thru similiar experience. What is the best option of transporting Household stuff (Books, TV,PC,Fridge...) BUT no furniture from Germany to another EU country like UK?
Is it worth spending money on transport or buying it all new in UK would be better (UK is expensive though)..

3) Is there any way of Briefumleitung (Post redirection) offered by Deustche Post from Germany to another EU country? (as far as i know the postal charges are same for germany and other EU countries, so it can be possible)
