honestly speaking, I amn't sure.
my poor german made me unable to understand the whole copyright law in details.

I hav discussed it with some of my german friends they say its not allowed but everyone is doing it.yes even for private purpose it is not allowed.But still it is not known what is the limit for safe downloading??? or the law(more strong)for new movies?

Ilegal. Downloading movies for free is as illegal as downloading free MP3s.

A law has been implemented a couple of months ago and should enter in force in Germany next year (can't remember the link but got it from my brother as he knows that I do it very often) which strictly prohibit that.

But as per the text of the law, there's a loophole and no lawyer I contacted has been able to tell me if I was right or wrong: if I remember well, the law states that nobody is allowed to download or put at the disposal of other for download movies before they are screened.

And in fact, my question to the lawyer was "what then if it is *after* they are screened?..."

I will try to search texts of that law, but as I got that from my brother, they will surely be in French.
