Hi,
My wife had the interview at german consulate bangalore for the family reunion visa on jan 15th. One month after the interview, she got a call from the bangalore embassy asking her to pay 2000 rupees for the marriage verification.
I went through these forums and as well as the bangalore consulate FB page, but I could not find any threads regarding the verification for 2000 rs. Did anyone have any similar experience ?
If they had asked to pay 15000 rs, the whole process might have taken 8-12 weeks ( at least thats what i found from these forums) . Any clue about whats the procedure and hw long its gonna take ?

Is it a type mistake of 2000 rupees? If you have been asked reallly for 2.000 instead of 20.000 then yours will be a peculiar case...

else below info applies to you.

The fees had been increased from 15k to 20k rupees.
after paying the fee the process takes around 8-12 weeks.

This money is for verification, I have also paid the money, infact more than 20,000. Nearly 30,000. Now after depositing my docs for verification within 1.5 months, i got my result.

During verification process, they also send some investigator officer to the house of the applicant.

Thanks for the reply. But let me once again make it clear that the money asked to pay was Rs 2000 and not Rs. 20,000.

@all the above cases, and specifically @d3

Did you folks apply for spouse visa immediately after your marriage, WITHOUT changing surname of spouse on the passport?

My wife last week submitted a family reunion visa application in Mumbai. To be safe, she changed her surname on the passport + submitted an attested photocopy of marriage certificate from a Government of India notary + submitted an official German translation of marriage certificate from MMB.

The visa officer said they'll contact in 2-3 days if additional verification is needed. If they don't contact then assume nothing more is necessary. It's been 1 week already and no communication yet.

So we're just hoping the Consulate processes the application without doing any verification.

Hi 10dulkar !

Cool name ! Although I am a Dravid fan myself.

Anyway, it seems like we are in the same boat. My wife is a German national and we applied for spouse visa on 21st of February at Mumbai. We were told that we'd receive a communique from the embassy in a week regarding the amount that we've to pay for verification but so far I haven't received any mail or post from them.

In some cases, it tooks them 2 to 3 weeks to send an email regarding verification fees. Lets see what happens.

Please keep me posted on any updates and I shall do the same.

HI Dhaval

Your application might be treated differently because you're spouse is German. Your case might be easier than ours. I'm just betting on the fact that the my EU Blue Card will prove a saviour.

Anyhow, 2 weeks on and no communication yet from the Consulate. At least my wife said the interview was quite straightforward. 4-5 usual questions about marriage, husband, qualifications etc. Neverthelesssome people here have claimed they received a call even 1 month after filing an application to deposit money for verification.

Good luck man!

Hey Dhaval,

My wife got the same mail today :-) What a coincidence! I read in another post of yours that you had applied on 21.2.13. My wife also had her interview on this day!

We are asked to pay Rs8989 by DD and were told that it will take 8-12 weeks after payment. It's a ridiculous amount of time and money to verify a couple of documents! And it's really frustrating to learn about the ensuing delays. We had done everything in our capacity to avoid this verification farce. After our civil marriage, my wife even got her name changed on her passport, paying Rs.6000 for a Tatkal passport. I wonder what more do they want to verify, when HER PASSPORT proves our marriage!

My job visa application and subsequent resident permit were processed with absolutely no bureaucratic hassles in Germany. They gave me the EU blue card, which promises easier and simpler processes for spouses. But the spouse reunion experience is proving otherwise. They're attracting foreign workers but apparantly the underlying loop-holes still exist.

my wife also applied to Mumbai consulate on 8th May 2013. She got the mail on 13th May 2013 stating about 13500 rs amount for marriage verfication. When she was having interview on 8th May they told like as your husbands contract with the company is unlimited there will be verification of marriage certificate. I dont know why these people are doing this when they want to attract people from other countries here to work.
so we paid the amount today. Hoping for the best!! Please give me update of your visa application friends!!

I would like to give some suggestion to avoid marriage verification.

Normally, Indian marriage certificates are mostly single page, which does not include the person details like DOB, Passport No, Witness signatures, Occupation, etc.,
If this details are included, the German Govt. will feel that this certificate ismore authenticated and we can exempt from marriage verification.

Only if you get married with Hindu Marriage act, this details are included and it has nearly 5 pages. but nowadays as per this act, the marriage is not happening in 'Registrar office.

Never mind., hereafter if someone got married under state act, want to submit the marriage certificate, please also submit the FORM-1 (Memorandum of Registration of Marriage). This form will be submitted while filing for marriage and also this included with all details.

After getting this please translate all pages in german from INDO GERMAN Chamber of commerce or from any sworn Translator.

I hope this will help the future guys.

(The above way will avoid your Marriage verification 90%)

Best of luck

Hi Moonmal,

I would disagree. I spoke to the ABH and the thing is that for some countires like India the embassy randomly picks up document for verification. There is no real way to avoid it.

And in any case if you bypass the marriage verification now, the tax authorities would again ask for it when you change tax class.

One thing could be done to expediate the process. You could apply for attestation of marriage certificate at the embassy/consulate by paying the fee and the verificaiton would happen much before the visa is applied.

Is there anyone who had to undergo verification from Delhi?

I said it is 90% to avoid the verification. It happend in my case as my frd has suggested like this. As we have seen from our side, single page marriage certificate always goes for verification here.

Once your wife have reached germany, in ABH itself they will change your marital status and after 2 days if u go to finanazamt, they vl change ur tax class. But dont go on the same day. For me it has not changed in the same day.

Embassy or consulate paying money before can be precautious thing. But again we are going to spend some more money.

Frodo,

Don't worry. My wife got her visa less than 3 months after the first application, and about 2 months after she paid the verification money.

There is a possibility that an agent from the Consulate visits your wife's residence to verify her documents and a kind of informal interview, basically to see that the application is genuine. The important thing is to be at home when this agent arrives, and most probably he'll arrive without any intimation. So make sure there's someone at home all the time.

Good luck!!
