Dear Trust7 members,

I might need to leave DE for 1.5 years to work outside Germany. I will basically be going on secondment. I will still keep on paying social contribution (ALG, Rente etc) in DE.

I do have Niederlassungserlaubnis. As NE runs out if I am away for more than 6 months, what options do I have in order to keep NE and be away from DE for 1.5 yrs.

Get a letter from the Company explaining everything, take it to the foreign office and get the exception stamped in the passport that the NE does not elapse. There was a forum member who got it done recently. Maybe if you search you can find it.
