Hi,

Can OCI card holder get back Indian citizenship say after two years instead of five years as mentioned in the OCI website?

Under Indian citizenship Act. Section 5

VI. A person of full age and capacity who, or either of his/ her parents, was earlier citizen ofindependent India, and has been residing in India for one year immediately before making an application for registration;
or
VII A person of full age and capacity who has been registered as an overseas citizen of India for five years, and who has been residing in India for one year before making anapplication for registration

So that means one can even apply before five years for Indian citizenship under Section 5(VI) with "A person of full age and capacity who, or either of his/ her parents, was earlier citizen of independent India, and has been residing in India for one year immediately beforemaking an application for registration;"

Please reply, if anyone has experience with this kind of situation
