Hi, I'm preparing the tax return for 2007, and I've just found out that there are some new complications introduced in 2006:
Die Unterhaltsbescheinigung in der bisherigen Form fällt weg. Stattdessen ist vom Steuerpflichtigen für jede unterstützte Person eine vierseitige, zweisprachige Unterhaltserklärung, dessen Muster dem BMF-Schreiben als Anlage beigefügt ist, abzugeben. Sie ist Voraussetzung für den Abzug der Unterhaltsleistungen. Auf der ersten Seite der Unterhaltserklärung sind persönliche Angaben zur unterstützten Person zu machen. Diese Angaben müssen von der ausländischen Gemeinde-/Meldebehörde bestätigt werden.

I filled the tax return form last year without these forms, and it was approved.

Does any of you have any experience with the Unterhaltserklärung for parents for this year?

Oh, and do you know if we are allowed to support only parents, or also brother/sister?
