WorkPermit for a Computer Engineer.

Hi Everybody,
I am a non EU citizen. Recently I finished my Masters in Germany and landed at a job in Germany.
The salary is Brutto 38 K / Year. The Company informed me that they will process WorkPermit.
I have a few questions over that.
1) My contract is without any time limit. But what will be the duration of work permit?
2) Whats the difference between this work permit and Green Card?
3) Is there any chance of rejection?. Btw, the position is based at Düsseldorf.
4) Usually how long it takes to receive permit?

Thanks for all your information.

Hi

1-) It depends.. probably one year at the start.. and each year when the work-permit gets prolonged, you may need to go through the so called labour market check each time..
2-) Several differences.. so called Greencards were given usually at once for five years (if not, the person at least had the right to prolong it up to 5 years, provided that he had a job.. during job switchs within these 5 years, people didnt need to go through labour-market-check) Greencards were processed very fast at that time at the labour offices (one week process time) when an employer had applied for it..
3-) Yepp.. there is a chance of rejection.. but if your employer knows how to deal with the labour office/aliens office.. this chance is very low..
4-) It depends on the labour office.. smt between one week and 3 months..

Thanks Lacrima for your kind info. Btw, I went through many threads and had more information.

Now just I am waiting as my employer is taking care of my workpermit. But I know a friend, who applied for workpermit on his own. Which one is advantageous?? I am just curious. nothing else.
