After submitting the application in Consulate we received a letter telling there shall be Marraige Verification Dona and it takes at least 12 weeks.
Can some share the experience of applying for family reunion visa from German Consulate Chennai.

This is common while applying german visa for spouse.
May be they will ask for german language certificate also once you marriage verification is done, so dont book your flight ticket before she/he gets visa cleared from consulate.

They would make a background check (which took 2 weeks in my case) and you have to pay the charges.
Ask the Ausländeramt in your city about the status when they send you a letter to meet them with all your documents.

We already produced the german language certificate at the time of submiting the application. I hope this is the last hurdle. We already submitted the documents they asked for marriage verification. WIll it really takes 12 weeks for verification.
Experiences from who ever went throught this process really helps us to prepare.

Welcome to the grind my friend... In my case too they said 8-12 weeks (Mumbai consulate). Its been 5 weeks already but neither anyone came for
verification nor have i received anything from the foreign office here (may be too soon to expect). Just wait it out.I dont know if they say 8-12 weeks if it really means that long because generally i had hoped that they would work with a margin. But it seems they mean it. I guess verifying the documents
and sending it in todays day and age takes a lot of time. So tighten your seat belt because the ride might be a jerky one .

How do you know if the verification is done by the Delhi embassy for all consulates? Why would they have so many embassies then?

You are an amazingly arrogant person. You claim to know of things which are probably known only by the insiders. And you ask people to trust you without revealing the source. Any prudent person will ask for source because Internet can be a source of misguidance. This is a forum for people who want to be helped and in a credible manner and to each his own level of credibility. Anyone can come here and write and claim to be anyone. How is one supposed to believe? Anyways, i do not intend to quarrel with you in this forum.

Anyone on this planet knows that each case is handled differently. People who are troubled by the visa procedures and dont exactly know, are hoping to extract information about what other peoples experiences were. Even if their personal case might actually take months, it gives them atleast hope by sharing other peoples experiences and avoiding mistakes what others might have done. Maybe its time you learn to be a bit humble and be more empathetic towards other people rather than expecting others to just blindly believe what you say.

From my wife's dependent visa application experience at German Consulate Mumbai in December 2010, I can share following things:

• In our case it took about 5 months from visa application to getting a visa stamped on passport
• Regarding marriage verification, you just have to wait 8 - 12 weeks. In our case it took around 10 weeks.
• During marriage verification process, we called 3 or 4 times to the concerned visa officer at Mumbai and she was nice enough to reply. So may be you can call and ask for status.

have you got any update from cosulate on your visa application.

I tried a lot to contact the channai cosulate, they have their call cneter running only for 1 hour in a day. Untill now no suceess, I just want to have the confirmation from them that the documents reached and they started the process but no success.

Yes we got a letter from the local AB exactly 5 weeks after the visa application process. The week before that we had called up the Mumbai embassy and the lady there told us to wait or contact the AB directly. She never confirmed to us whether the marriage has been verified and just said we have to wait.
I have got a letter from the local AB to show my documents in the third week of this month. (Unfortunately the appointment could not be earlier as apparently it is holiday season). I have been asked to show the same documents which we have already submitted.. talk about Bureaucracy! Anyways,
lets see what will happen and hopefully this wait will end. I would suggest you not to call the call-center but the visa official directly or write them an email.
You can also contact your local AB. Hope it helps and wish you luck

our waiting for the completion of marriage verification is still going on, curently 7th week is going on. Mean while I am trying to reach the german consulate chennai just to confirm if they received our documents, as they are original documents we are a bit worried.

Did any one ever able to contact the geman consulate office via phone (callcenter 1 hr a day) or via email?
I am trying from last 4 weeks and success untill now.

Generally they say 8-12 weeks for marriage verification. It appears you have hit the other end of the deadline.
Might be you have to wait a week or so again...
We never submitted the original documents. They just took it for verification and gave it back to us then
and there itself. Never heard of anyone submitting the documents in original at the embassy.

Try contacting your local AB. In my case we never got any confirmation of marriage certification
verification from the consulate. I directly got an appointment with the local AB once they had my documents here
That took about 5 weeks from the date of application.

In case of Chennai Consulate they ask for original document and some snaps. Even the verification cost is a bit high, it is 20,000€. It is 11 weeks from the date of our application. They informed us about verification 4 weeks after the application submission.

It is standard time for chennai to take 8 -12 weeks for verification after submission of verfication fees. In one  recent case I know it took 3.5 months. 

fees should be 20000 INR and hopefully not Euros. They will ask to collect the originals when verification is over.

We asked the mumbai embassy specifically regarding the duration and they said  the verification would take 8-12 weeks from the date of payment of fees.
So i guess you still might have to wait a week or more until you hear from them. It is bad i know but so it is. We all have to sail the same boat. Wish you luck. 20000 re/ is a lot. I am actually surprised that so much money is being taken and they still dont deal with it quickly.

20,000 INR??? This is utter non sense. Please check the Chennai consulate webpage, for latest info. It is 60 Euros( 4100 INR Approx). Please dont spread, wrong information. After all it is a forum.

Who pays this 20000 Rs?? what do u mean by verification charge?

as per my experience the verification is not done for all aplicants only for some people they do it.
The consulate informs the applicant that they want to verify the marriage certificate provided at the time of applying also asking the required documents and money. Applicant shall pay the money for verification. They hire some third party to do the verification.

I recently applied visa for my wife. She had the interview in chennai. They said, the visa process will take 4-12 weeks, they will verify the marriage certificate alone. She submitted the application 2 weeks back. They didnt ask anything else. Immediately on the same evening, she received the message accepting the application and they returned her passport by courier. I havnt heard anything from the ABH as of now.
I.am from Darmstadt.Hope I dont have to pay for this verification process.

Just wanted to share my experience
We applied at Mumbai embassy and got the confirmation yesterday. The time taken for processing from the date of application
3 months + a week. But if you consider from thje time they asked us to pay for verification it was about two and a half months.
Could have been faster in my opinion because once they got the documents here in Germany, i got the appointment one month
later. This time could have been cut down drastically. I had expected them to confirm it on the day of appointment itself.
But they took sometime and about a week and a half after i showed my documents in original at the AB, we got
the confirmation...
All the best to the rest of you guys stuck in the process. I still think most of the problems they create
for us are on purpose. But so is it. Its a harrowing experience after marriage but they seem not

Tomorrow My wife and kid are appearing for visa interview in German consulate chennai .

After the interview do i need to submit same set of documents in Local AB office in the City i live in Germany .

we will receive any letter from Local AB office regarding our spouse / Chidren visa ?

If we need to know the status or submit any documents in local AB what is the procedure to be followed

I am also in your same boat, but what i read is that.

Your wife and kid will appear for the interview, after which the documents will get forwarded to the ABH here in germany.
later the ABH will ask you to come and submit the needed documents.

We received a call from Chennai Consulate exactly after 3 weeks of attending interview by my wife and kid  stating that visa is approved .
Today we received the passport with stamping .
In our case the entire visa processing time for family reunion visa is less than 4 weeks ..

As you have mentioned, the entire process has been completed in under 4 weeks. This is in stark contrast to a majority of experiences on this forum. Can you help us, with what you think, helped you secure the family reunion visa so quick ? Do you think your's wife academic / professional qualifications or the fact that you have a kid help reduce the processing time ?

When my spouse and kid appeared for interview on 30th october , Visa officer informed that if required

1. My Marriage Certificate & Birth Certificate  might be picked for verification
2. German Language Requirement

My Spouse is a post Graduate and holds a professional degree . Probably due to her education credentials  and having a kid might made our life easy

we got a call from chennai Consualte on 19th November  hardly 3 weeks from the date of interview to submit passport for stamping

The Passports got stamped and returned by 26th November .

I have not paid 20, 000 or anything like that . Entire Family Reunion visa processsing is completed just in 26 days

I have submitted the documents as specified by VFS .

 When i applied my wife visa i haven't  received my Resident permit card but consulate accepted the application with the Resident Permit Interview Letter .

I had only 1 Month German Paystub (12 days of pay)  not even 3 Month German Paystub but i submitted German work contract

Hope this information helps all other folks who are applying Family Reunion Visa

finally my wife got the visa stamped.
here are the details.
06.07.2012 Visa interview at Chennai Consulate
29.07.2012 Got email from Consulate asking for 20,000 Rs DD with original marriage certificate and photos.
02.08.2012 Submitted the same.
26.10.2012 Got the call from Consulate confirming the Verificatio Completion.
02.11.2012 Sumitted Passport for Stamping.
09.11.2012 Recevied the passport with Visa stamping.

There are few lucky people who got the visa processes completed in few weeks!.

 Thanks for sharing the information. In my case also no vertification was done by chennai consulate. Me and my wife applied the visa together and we got it in about 70 days. Have you registered your marriage status in Germany? Have you got a class III tax card? I have a problem, though my wife is here in germany as my dependent, they want to do marriage verification in India, to update the marriage status. Thanks for the information.

We applied for the family reunioun Visa  in Chennai on 9th October 2012,

1) We did not submit any certificate for the Germany Languague for my wife, she is holds a Bachelor of Engineering, note she has travelled and lived in Norway on a dependent visa.

Yet we have not recevived any information from chennai consulate regarding the marriage verification/need for the German Language certification.

I have also not received any information from ABH asking the needed documents from my side, the documents are processed by the Berlin ABH.

Do you guys have any idea where this visa process is going currently and what to expect.

or how to contact the ABH and ask for the needed information.

But note, after applying for the family visa in Chennai visa, my wife got a job in Denmark and she also in parallel applied for Danish Work permit, and that permit is approved now.

I got dependent visa in exactly in 5 weeks from Mumbai conculate .....
I am too happy for it that they not said that marriage verification required...

Following are useful tips to avoid marriage verification
1. incluse ur huband name in passport or change ur surname in your passport( after marriage name) very IMP
2. Get goethe german A1 level certificate by registering ur after marriage name. ( U can directly appeare for exam by using their study material and test material on their website. very easy to clear.)
3. Dont ask consulate of ABH in germany regarding visa status. keep cool ...

Hey bluebenny ..congrats for the whole issue. I am applying for the family reunion visa to join my bf after wedding in april. His work contract says he has a probzeit of 6months. Will it be an issue in my visa approval? or should i wait and apply after 6months ??

I also want to share my "wonderfull experience", which is not finished yet, with my Spouse German Visa process...
Here are some of the dates of the process:
23.12.2015 -  Application and Interview at the Embassy in Prishtina, Kosovo
14.04.2016 -  Got a call from the Embassy, for the Marriage Verifation Process,
15.04.2016 - Sent the necessary docs. and the payment of 200 EUR.

eventhough  they said that the process of Marriage Verification, will take from two to three months, still nothing... all they say is that I have to wait. Not any single, even aproximate forecast, of when will I get any response.
