Benefit of chaging spouse visa to student visa

Hi,

My wife lives in Germany with spouse visa. Now she has an admission in the uni. Do you think it is good idea to change her visa type to student visa? Is there any benefit or possible danger doing so?

Does she have a work permit as a spouse? If not, changing to student visa will give her permission to work for the duration of the course.

One more advantage is city monthly ticket will be bit cheaper for student.
I am not sure of Health Insurance, If she chages to student visa, i think she has to pay KV seperately.

As a student work permit is limited to 90 full days/180 half days per year.
Spouse to student might be bit difficult but possible.
As a student I think the facilities are good and that can be availed from the student bescheinigung and not necessarily from the student visa.

For NE later, student time is calculate half in some states and some not.

Currently she does not have any work permit. Cann't I ask ABH for the work permit (20hrs / wk same as student) with current spouse visa?

Can any expert knows what can happen about the KV if she changes to student visa?

My wife lives in Germany with work permit(BE). Now she has an admission in the uni. from Sept'09 Is it advisable to change her visa type to student visa? Is there any benefit?

if u have BE/NE, then its better ur wife holds dependent visa so that she can work same as like u.

If not, student visa is better as it allows atleast 90 days to work.

Thanks everybody for their kind response. As I have BE I will not change her visa to student one. I will try take only the work permit on her current status.
