Family reunion visa - US passport

I am planning to process family visa (for wife & kid) - Family reunion visa for Germany.
I am processing this visa from Germany embassy Mumbai.
My kid is having US passport. Is it necessary to apply visa for my kid ?
The website shows US passport holder can travel to Germany without visa and must apply for resident permit after arriving in Germany.

US passport holders can travel without any visa. As you rightly said, you must apply for resident permit for him/her after arriving in Germany.
