Let's say someone lives in Germany for a year with Blue Card, then stays outside of Germany for two years. We could assume their Blue Card would get voided in that case. Later, they come back with a new job and a new Blue Card to reside in Germany.

Question: Would that original 12 month count towards the 33 or 21 months required for permanent residence permit or they start from 0 when they come back with new Blue Card?

Provided you have paid all social contributions of the year that you stayed here. If not, you should start from 0.

Hello. Thanks for the reply.

The intentions are to apply for European permenant residence after that 2 years and making sure the 1 year stay in Germany is accounted for that and I don't have to start from 0.

All social contributions, taxes, and health insurance costs are fully paid for that 1 year. Provided that, even a 2 years interruptions in the residence would not reset the counter?
