I got a strange question to ask: as some of you know, I'm officially jobless since last January, got register at the Arbeitsamt and until now haven't been paid my unemployment benefits (living on my spares at the moment) but that's not the problem because they said the money will come soon. But the fact is that I got from them a proposal to do an 9-months Ausbildung in a center in my town instead of keeping looking for a job.
Sounds kinda weird because I never heard of that kinda things proposed to a GC, so what's the whole deal in that? Is that normal? I haven't decided yet if I will go for it or not but have to give them an answer before the end of the week, what could you advice?

You can lose your unemployment benefit for 3,6 or 12 weeks if your local employment office decides that you had no important reason to refuse such an offer. moreover, the time period during which you are eligible to get an unemployment benefit can be greatly reduced. so i would not propose to refuse such an offer unless you want to give away your unemployment benefit as a present to a Father State *lol* ;)

My situation is similar to you, Nobody, I also got jobless in Jan 2004. And presently I am attending a Course (10 Weeks Full time) which has been sponsered by Arbeitsamt. Only, in my case, I went to my Berater in Arbeitsamt an requested to attend this course. My logic was : it is better to do a Course or a Certification rather than sitting idle. My logic followed a number of negative answers I got to my job applications.

Secondly, pls dont worry about the Arbeitslosengeld. It will come if the Arbeitslosengeld Antrag (application) has been received by them. It is in process if you have not heard from them anything. How did you send the Arbeitslosengeld Antrag? Personally or by Post? If per Post, pls dont hesitate to follow it up with them. I went personally to submit the application and then when I did not hear anything from them for 1 Month, I went there to enquire what the matter was. And then in another 10 days, I had the Bescheid (a letter telling me that I am entitled for the Money).

And I agree that if you have been offered the Course, it is your Pflicht (Duty) to join it. Otherwise you get a Sperre (A period in which you receive no Money from Arbeitsamt).
