Hallo everyone,

i took Elternzeit from 17th Dec'11 to 16th Jan'12 (2 months). During these 2 months i received 1800 Euros from amt. Last week i received a letter from my Health insurance that i need to pay min. premium amount of ~147Euros per month . As my wife is not working (House wife).

I just want to know is it normal? Please respond if you know the info or had experience..

Hi, I also paid the amount during my Elternzeit period. This is mandatory if one has a Salaray I guess beyond 48K. At the end, you will receive so called "Beschneinigung_für_Beitrag_und_Prämienzahlung" which you can claim in your yearly Tax declaration. Regards, Shaik
