I got fired few weeks ago.
I have only 7 months left to NE. That is on one side nice but on the other side companies rarely take someone with 7 months Aufenthalt because they never know will he get Verlängerung.

So I am in the shitty situation.

Luckily I have "Eg" but problem is that this Eg which is actually unbefristete ArbErl is on the AufErl and there is end date December 2005 on it.
So it is hard to explain to some future employer that this ArbErl is unbefristet because there is end date on it.

If someone can help me I will send him a CV.
I am good in C#, C++, Oracle, Sql Server and Access and have together more than 10 years experience with those programs.
I do not have professional experience with Java Delphi and VB but I know them also.
I worked as a DBA and as a DBEntwickler.

I don´t think this december detail on your Vissum will act against you. There is a kind of rumour running in background over the better times of the economy and almost everybody knows that a "former" GC like you can stay longer than the 5 years limit in Germany.

sorry to hear about your job. it does not matter if ur aufenthalt is ending in 7 months. mine is ending in sept. and i got a new job because i had BE. Most employers only want to know that u r allowed to work for unlimited time in DE. HR people know the differen between Aufenthalt and Arbeitserlaubnis.
You must put your CV on www.monster.de as early as possible, because many companies who need IT profis look there. Surely u will find a good job soon.

As MH advised you, besides using this forum, you need to actively post your resume on JobPilot.de and Monster.de so that different employers can see your "Schwer Punkte" and may contact you. You may give your Handy-Nummer there.

We(I & MH) have been to this situation(unseren Verträge wurden nicht verlängert) and thank God that we recently found jobs, which is really important to secure NE.

I think, you may also contact some "Job Vermitler" to help you find a job.(DIS e.g.)

Also, as for Java, one find new jobs with J2EE. I think, you should also try for .NET jobs. It should not be difficult to cope with the changes in .NET to find a job.

You already have an advantage because of Deutsch and I wish you best of luck with your JobSearch.

While searching job, you may encounter lot of companies responding not positively. But, dont lose hope and keep applying. Also, try to make your CV as well as "Job letter" showing "INTEREST".

Check also the www.jobworld.de - you can do there keyword search through all job-search engines. Besides "DIS" you can also check the "PERSONAL TOTAL". Once I also found the job via Arbeitsamt (!), they did not found it for me - I have found it myself using their search machine via internet.

Grundsätzlich ein von diesen:
C# oder C++ Software Entwickler
Oracle Software Entwickler oder Datenbank Administrator
SQL Server Datenbank Administrator

Aber Delphi und Java sind auch offen.

Come on, DvD, you *have to* find something relatively fast with that profile. If you grab some good website like jobpilot.de for example.
I had a mild response also when I was searching for a new job during 2002, but I didn't press the issue then. But when I got involved in the search more intensively, I have received the first offer within few weeks. Motto: "ne je*e lep nego uporan".

Just take care of one fact; I have noticed that there are seasons with intensified offerings. For example, it is not unusual point in the work contract that one has to announce quitting three months (quarterly based) in front. You know what it means, companies do also. In praxis it means that there are far more ads till the end of December, March, Jun and September. So, you are bound to find better offer until the end of the Jun (within next 30 days practically; if you press it).

problem with me is that I am Dipl. Ing. Maschinenbau/Schiffbau.
So lots of companies skip me when thay see it.

Allow me to doubt that; in my current company two highest ranking developers have studied physics and engineering (~Maschinenbau) - and we are making corporate software, not some industrial stuff like Messtechnik. In my previous company situation was more or less the same (I was practically the only real "Informatiker" there). If that was such a problem, they wouldn't have let you in on the GC program in the first place. So just step on it!

@DvD: If I am not indiscrete... Why did you got fired anyway ? Is it like company has no projects, or they dislike you ? Did anyone else got Kündigung or is it just you ? How long were you in this company ?

I never got fired because of me.
I got fired because project is over and although company planned another projects they have no money at the moment.
It is question will my firma survive next 6 months. At the moment some are doing Kurzarbeit (half time).

At the moment it is not clear am I fired or not.
If firma gets some big Auftrag it is possible that I stay.
But I can not rely on that and lose job few months before NE.

Hello fellow GC holders, am new to this forum but have been a silent reader of your postings which i find very interesting and helpful. DvD you are not alone. I too got gekündigt on 31.01.2006 after working for a dienstleistungsfirma for about 2 years. I am now actively looking for job. I just got an Absage this morning from a company which I had high hopes of joining after going for a Vorstellungsgespräch.

I am oracle 9i certified DBA, with skills in SQl/PL-SQL developement, performance tuning, as well as high availability solutions like OFS and RAC. Fortunately I have NE which I got on 09/12/2005. Would highly appreciate any help in finding a new job. I already registered my details in the forum database.

And FYI I applied for Niederlassungserlaubnis-EG which Ausländeramt promised to give me as soon as some special sticker is ready(thts wot they told me). I for one believe in the importance of having this special erlaubnis bse it widens one's horizons to include the possibility of working in other EC countries where pastures might be greener in case the going gets tough in germania. Will keep this forum informed of any developments in this direction. DvD, Kopf hoch, no matter how many Absages you receive.

Finally, pray tell, has anyone in this forum ever got a job through Perit Consulting, DIS AG, or Hays AG? These companies seem hold all the oracle jobs tht I want yet it is so hard to find a job through their services. Do they just hate my guts?

I do not have anything against Bayern. It is just not a good place for naval architect.
I got 3-6 jobs in north Germany. So I chose Lürssen.
Looks like in shipbuilding is situation much better than in IT.

I'm actually working on a Freiberufler basis in Berlin for a 10 months contract that I've obtained thru Hays AG and as far as I can see, they good in their area and very friendly.

I'm not the only one where I work who got there thru Hays AG so you can give 'em a try.

Job-hopper is the person who changes jobs quite frequently. A person who "hops" from one job to another. Some HR guys disadvise such a practice of quick job changing, as it looks not that beautiful on the CV but it is more of a personal choice, IMHO..
