I want to invite my Indian friend to Germany for this Christmas eve. He'll stay for 2 weeks. I understand that an invitation letter and travel health insurance are necessary.

1) Do anyone have a format of the invitation letter?

2) Is it enough if it is faxed or should I post them?

3) Please recommend some online companies who can issue travel health insurance faster.

He wants to take his flight on 21.12.2006 Is that feasible?

btw dont forget to tell us(write here)if u able to spent this christmas together:-).as i would be not in shock if german embassy in india would be the evil part in ur holy night.

Just last week I invited my friend and it was pretty easy. He is also from india but presently works in NY. So that will make a difference. If he is applying in India for German tourist visa, I dont have any experience.

However, if u r friend can prove his financial abilities for the trip, then u can just send him a scanned copy of u r invitation letter and a acanned copy of your passport and aufenthaltserlaubnis.

Just state in letter that u like to invite u r friend for so and so reason and also state that he will be staying at u r residence during the stay..also state the stay duration.

If u r friend cant fund himself, then u needa go to auslanderamt and get an official invitation letter which is given on the spot and costs 40 euros.. To get this official letter, u need u r house contract, 3 month payslips and passport.

for my friend, he proved his financial status and got visa immediately. I just sent him a scanned opy of my invitation letter with my sign..

Well, everything looks okay. My friend attended the VISA interview today and they confirmed that the Visa is approved.
